Applications:
R134a refrigerant is commonly used in various applications:
- Auto Air Conditioning: Used as a replacement refrigerant in automotive air conditioning systems.
- Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Refrigeration: Suitable for a wide range of refrigeration systems in homes, commercial establishments, and industrial settings.
- New Equipment: Compatible with new refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Additional Notes:
- When retrofitting systems to R134a, it’s essential to replace the existing lubricant with POE (Polyol Ester) oil, except in some automotive retrofit applications that may require PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) oil.
- In most cases, the level of mineral oil or alkylbenzene oil should be reduced to below 5% of the new POE charge. Specific recommendations regarding oils or procedures should be obtained from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- The existing lubricant should be thoroughly removed, POE oil added, and the system run on R-12 for a period to achieve an appropriate residual oil concentration. It’s also recommended to replace the filter-drier and then charge R134a.
